Two arrested over four-month-old Burnley baby death

A four-month-old baby boy has died after he suffered serious head injuries at a house in Burnley.

The ambulance service was called to the house in the early hours of Tuesday and the baby was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital.

He was later transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital where he died at about 02:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old woman from Burnley and a 40-year-old man from Brighouse were arrested on suspicion of child neglect.

Both have been released on bail until 30 January 2012 pending further inquiries.
