The mother of four-year-old Olivia Donachie, who was killed by a car in Edinburgh last week, has had her left leg amputated beneath the knee. A mother who was injured in a crash that killed her four-year-old daughter has had her left leg amputated beneath the knee.
Paul Donachie, Olivia's father, said the operation was wife Rachel's third since being hit by the car on 30 May. Little Olivia Donachie died after being hit by a vehicle as she walked with mother Rachel in Edinburgh on 30 May.
In his first public statement since the tragedy, Mr Donachie also paid tribute to Olivia as his "lively, fun and affectionate little girl". In his first public comment since the tragedy, Olivia's father Paul Donachie said his 33-year-old wife had undergone three operations in hospital.
A man has appeared in court in connection with the incident. A 31-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with the incident.
Mr Donachie said his wife had suffered serious injuries to her left foot and leg, a fractured pelvis and had sustained a head injury in the smash, which happened in the city's Westgarth Avenue.

Mrs Donachie had her left leg partially amputated in an operation at St John's Hospital, Livingston, on Tuesday.
Mr Donachie paid tribute to Olivia as his "lively, fun and affectionate little girl" in the statement, which was released through Lothian and Borders Police.
He said: "Rachel is a positive and determined person, and she is committed to ensuring a successful period of recovery and rehabilitation.
"Olivia was a wonderful daughter, a loving sister to Samuel, Amelia and Isabella, and a good friend to many. A lively, fun and affectionate little girl, she was dearly loved by everyone who knew her.
"Her tragic death came two weeks after the birth of our fourth child, and we feel privileged to have had an opportunity to be a family of six for a short period of time."

Mr Donachie said it was not known how long his wife would remain in hospital, adding: "We have been unable to make arrangements for Olivia's funeral. We will do so once the situation regarding Rachel's recovery becomes clearer."
Mr Donachie thanked family, friends, work colleagues, local churches, the emergency services and everyone else in the community around their home in the Colinton area of the city for their sympathy and support
He added: "We have been touched by everyone's kindness, and strengthened by the messages we have received through cards, letters and phone calls.
"We are extremely grateful for the flowers and soft toys that have been placed in Redford Drive and sent to us directly. We have collected all the cards and will cherish these for many years to come.
"We have asked for the toys to be collected and donated to Children's Hospice Association Scotland (Chas), a wonderful charity that supports children with life limiting conditions and their families. We hope they will help bring comfort and happiness to the children who receive them."
