Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a jewellery shop owner have arrested a second man. Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a jewellery shop owner have arrested two more men and a woman.
Peter Avis, 66, was found dead in his flat above the Collis and Sons shop in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, on Friday morning. The body of Peter Avis, 66, was found at his home above the Collis and Son shop in Abbeygate Street, Bury St Edmunds, on the morning of 13 January.
Officers believe Mr Avis was stabbed during a burglary. An 18-year-old man from Bury was arrested earlier on suspicion of murder and conspiracy to commit burglary.
A 30-year-old man was detained in north London on Sunday on suspicion of murder and has been brought back to Suffolk for questioning. A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary.
Detectives have been granted an extra 36 hours to question a 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder on Friday night. Police carried out a searches at an address in Lark Avenue, Bury, earlier.
The area remains cordoned off as officers examine the home.
The arrests bring the total number of people being held to five.
'Eccentric but gentle'
A 34-year-old man was arrested in London on suspicion of murder on Friday night.
A 30-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of murder in north London on Sunday.
Both remain in custody at Martlesham Police Investigation Centre.
