The child was last seen in difficulty in the water when the others went off to find help. The boy, of Hillcrest Road, Nuneaton, was fishing with two others who went to find help.
A police helicopter and specialist underwater search teams were used. A body was found on the bed of the lake at 0150 BST on Wednesday. His parents Colette and Dominic paid tribute to their son saying he loved fishing, his pet lizard and his family.

"This part of the lake was dug out last year because this is a floodplain.
"The lake is not actually that deep but it has a lot of silt at the bottom."
