Youth charged over father death

A 17-year-old youth has been charged with the murder of a father killed outside his home in east London.

Steven Nyembo-Ya-Muteba, 40, was stabbed outside his home in Evergreen Square, Hackney, on Sunday night.

He was killed after confronting a gang of youths who had gathered in the foyer of his block of flats.

The defendant, from Hackney, appeared at Thames Youth Court and has been remanded in custody to appear at crown court at a later date.

Three other male youths, one aged 15 and two aged 16, arrested in connection with the case, were released on bail pending further inquiries.

A fifth youth, aged 17, remains in custody at an east London police station.
