Version 0 of 1.

Many of the papers look ahead to Prime Minister Tony Blair's farewell appearance on the European stage at this week's EU summit.

According to the Sunday Times, he is preparing to cave in to pressure to sign Britain up to a new charter of fundamental rights.

But the Observer believes Nicolas Sarkozy will be an important ally on British concerns.

Mr Blair will forge a united front with the new French president, it says.

Battlefield casualties

The Sunday Mirror joins the Sunday Telegraph in expressing outrage at a report of delays in treating British troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A senior army surgeon has warned that the US was faster in moving battlefield casualties to hospital in Vietnam 40 years ago.

The Ministry of Defence insists British medical teams have the equipment and resources they need.

But the Mirror accuses it of a "couldn't care less attitude".

Constant focus

The father of Madeleine McCann tells the Mail on Sunday, the News of the World and the Sunday Express that he cannot think of Sunday as Father's Day.

Gerry McCann says his mind is constantly focused on the search to find four-year-old Madeleine, who disappeared in Portugal.

According to the Times, Kate McCann may give up her job as a doctor to campaign against child trafficking.

A family friend tells the paper she sees it as her calling.

Fixture clash

All of Sunday's papers take delight in the spate of footballers' weddings over the weekend.

The Telegraph and other papers describe the nuptials of Steven Gerrard, Gary Neville, Michael Carrick and John Terry as "matches of the day".

The Observer refers to the "hat-trick" of weddings as one of the "worst fixture clashes of the season".

"From wags to riches, the boys done good" is the verdict of the Independent on Sunday.
