Version 0 of 1.

Police are still working to identify a man's body which was discovered in a river in Greater Manchester.

The body was recovered from the River Irwell at Charlestown, Salford, shortly before 2100 BST on Friday.

There was nothing on the man which would identify him and it is hoped someone will recognise his description or his clothing, detectives said.

The river runs through Bolton and Bury and police are also asking people in those areas for information.

He will be someone's son, father, brother or friend Det Insp Millington

It is not known how long the body was in the water for or the circumstances surrounding his death.

The man is described as having a slim to medium build and a shaved head and was about 5'9" (180cm) tall.

He was wearing green Henley Storm combat trousers, a green long sleeved shirt and black size eight shoes.

Det Insp Howard Millington said: "It's two days now since this man was pulled from the water.

"He will be someone's son, father, brother or friend. I'd ask anyone who hasn't seen someone they know for some days who recognises the description of him or his clothing to contact us."
