Man held over gun incident at Cumbernauld police station

A 53-year-old man has been arrested after walking into a North Lanarkshire police station with what appeared to be a shotgun.

A helicopter and armed police were scrambled, after the man entered the premises on South Muirhead Road, Cumbernauld, at about 22:30 on Sunday.

Strathclyde Police said they entered into dialogue with the man who was arrested at about 00.10.

He is expected to appear at Airdrie Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Police said no-one was injured in the incident.
