Thai police say they believe men detained after prematurely exploding bombs in Bangkok on Tuesday were intending to target two Israeli diplomats. A group of Iranians detained after several explosions in the Thai capital Bangkok were intending to target two Israeli diplomats, police say.
They gave no further details of who the individual targets were. There were no further details of the individual targets, but planning was said to be at an advanced stage.
Two men, said to be Iranian, remain in custody in Bangkok. A third man is in custody in Malaysia. A fourth suspect is said to be on the run. Israeli officials have linked Tuesday's Bangkok blasts to attacks on diplomats in Georgia and India on Monday.
Israel says Iran was behind the incident, but Tehran denies any role. Israel has accused Tehran of being behind all three attacks. Tehran has denied any involvement.
Two men are in custody in Bangkok over Tuesday's explosions, and a third man was arrested in Malaysia trying to board a flight to Iran.
Police are still searching for a fourth suspect, the landlady of the house where the Iranians were living. She is thought to have fled Thailand.
The alarm was raised when an explosion ripped the roof of their house, in central Bangkok.
Two men managed to escape the explosion.
A third man suffered minor injuries and tried to hail a taxi. When the taxi refused to stop for him, he threw at least one bomb at it.
When he was later cornered by police, he attempted to throw a bomb at them. However, he seriously injured himself with the device, and lost both of his legs.
Four other people were injured in the incident.
