A police spokeswoman said: "The officers attempted to stop a man to speak to him. He ran off and then fired a shot in their direction." A police spokeswoman said: "As the officers attempted to search the man he produced a firearm and ran off.
"As he ran off he turned and fired one shot in the direction of the officers."
One officer sustained graze injuries when he dropped to the ground as the shot was fired, but did not require hospital treatment.
Detectives from Trident Gang Crime Command are investigating.
