Woman interviewed over hit-and-run on Lewis

Police have interviewed an elderly female driver over a suspected hit-and-run incident on the Isle of Lewis.

A 59-year-old man was left on the side of the road after being struck by a vehicle at about 19:00 on Friday.

He is recovering in the Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway after the incident on the A858, Carloway to Callanish Road, at Kirivick.

A spokesman for Stornoway Police said the female motorist had come forward following an appeal in the media.

He said: "The matter is under investigation and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."

The man's condition is not believed to be life threatening.
