A web page featuring a spoof profile of the Yorkshire Ripper has been branded "sick beyond belief" by an MP.

The entry for "Peter Sutcliffe" on MySpace is set against a bloodstained backdrop and lists his occupation as "serial killer (retired)".

Philip Davies, Conservative MP for Shipley, West Yorkshire, has called for the page to be taken down.

Sutcliffe, from Bradford, is serving 20 life sentences for killing 13 women and attempting to kill seven more.

Mr Davies said: "I have no idea what motivates people to do this and whoever has done this is, as far as I can see, clearly sick beyond belief.

"They have not given any thought to how the families of the victims would feel about this sort of thing. It is outrageous."

West Yorkshire Police declined to comment and no one at MySpace was available to comment.
