Court ruling in custody wrangle Protection order for custody girl
(about 1 hour later)
A court hearing in Pakistan is due to determine the future of a 12-year-old girl from the Western Isles who fled home to stay with her father. A court in Pakistan has granted a temporary protection order in the case of 12-year-old Misbah Rana.
Misbah Iram Ahmed Rana, who is known to her mother as Molly Campbell, sparked an investigation after she left her Stornoway home and flew to Lahore. Misbah, known to her mother as Molly Campbell, went missing from her home in Lewis in the Western Isles to stay with her father in Lahore.
The girl said she travelled voluntarily to be with her father. Her father was seeking to block any attempt to have her returned to the UK.
He will ask the Pakistani court to block any attempt to have his daughter returned to the UK. A judge made the two-day protection order because Misbah's lawyer feared the police would try to capture her and repatriate her to the UK.

Wednesday's hearing will examine guardianship under Pakistani law.
It is unclear whether Louise Campbell, Misbah's mother and legal guardian, has travelled to Pakistan to attend the hearing.
Although unwilling to comment on proceedings it seems likely her lawyers will be pushing for any decisions about Misbah's future to revert to the jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.
