Shop worker is tied up by robbers

A supermarket worker has been tied up during a robbery in east Belfast.

At about 0815 BST on Monday two men, one of whom was armed with a hammer, burst into the office of the supermarket at King's Square.

One of them restrained the woman working there while the other tied her hands and feet with cable ties.

The robbers - both of whom were wearing dust masks - then filled a rucksack with what police have described as a substantial amount of cash.

One of the robbers was about 5ft 8ins tall and about 20 to 25 years old. He was wearing a fluorescent jacket, dust mask and monkey hat.

The other man was about 18, of thin build, and was wearing a fluorscent bib, dust mask and beany hat.

Both spoke with Belfast accents.

Police had appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
