The ceremony has been organised by Plymouth University, the Plymouth Scott 100 Committee, the Royal Navy, and Mount Wise Devon Ltd and the rededication service will be conducted by the Bishop of Plymouth, the Rt Revd John Ford. Other guests are expected to include the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, the Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth University and 21-year-old Henry Evans - unrelated to Petty Officer Evans - who is a marine biology student from the university.
He is due to set off to the Antarctic in November to trek to Scott's last resting place as part of the International Scott Centenary Expedition.
After the ceremony, Princess Anne will visit Admiralty House, where she will view exhibitions devoted to Scott, including memorabilia from Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery.
Pupils from schools and colleges in the city will then perform excerpts from a new musical, Great Scott, by Australian composer David Jensen.
