Man charged with murder over Birkenhead stabbing

A 20-year-old man has been charged with murder and robbery after a man was found stabbed to death in Wirral.

Herbert Allanson, 71, was found by Merseyside Police officers in the early hours of Friday at a house on Dawson Close, Birkenhead.

The charged man is due to appear before Wirral magistrates on Monday.

Floral tributes to Mr Allanson have been laid outside the victim's house, which was cordoned off for investigation.
