Charge over theft from dead woman in Longsight

Sarwari Ashraf, 62, from Longsight, Manchester, died while crossing Upper Brook Street, Manchester, on Thursday morning. Marc Kirvin, 46, from Altrincham, will appear before Manchester magistrates charged with theft on 17 May. Greater Manchester Police are still investigating the circumstances of Ms Ashraf's death. They have confirmed they are dealing with it as "a fail-to-stop collision". A 40-year-old man arrested on suspicion of causing her death by careless driving has been bailed until May pending further inquiries. A 47-year-old man, who was previously arrested on suspicion of murder, was earlier released without charge. |
