Jury out in teacher murder trial
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/sussex/6262022.stm Version 0 of 1. A jury is considering its verdict over a man accused of murdering teacher Jane Longhurst in Sussex in 2003. Graham Coutts, 39, of Waterloo Street, Hove, is accused of strangling her in order to satisfy a "perverted sexual interest" in violence towards women. He claims she died accidentally during consensual sex which involved him restricting her breathing with tights. Jurors were told they could consider a manslaughter verdict if they found Coutts not guilty of murder. The body of 31-year-old Miss Longhurst, a special needs teacher originally from Reading, Berkshire, was put into storage after her death and then taken to a secluded spot near Pulborough, West Sussex, and set alight. |
