Officials with Isaf - the International Security Assistance Force - did not say in which province the attack took place.
But Afghan police officials told the Associated Press that a bomb struck a vehicle in the province of Kandahar.
The blast was the deadliest attack against Nato forces since six Canadian soldiers were killed when a mine exploded on 8 April.
