All eyes will be on adventurer Bear Grylls tomorrow when he launches himself off the top of the Tyne Bridge to zip wire over the river carrying the torch.

Bear, who is an honorary Lieutenant Commander Royal Naval Reservist, will zoom into the Parade Ground where members of HMS Calliope and Royal Marines Reserve Tyne will welcome him.

It will be one of the most spectacular sights of the torch's journey and we're inviting you to help us map it all by sharing your pictures, tweets and thoughts on our interactive map. The full details of how to take part are here.

On Saturday, Olympic track legends Haile Gebrselassie and Brendan Foster will be doing the honours in South Shields.

Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council, Councillor Alan Kerr, said their participation was partof a programme of events to help residents celebrate the torch's progress.

"To have two such legendary athletes carrying the torch through South Tyneside is a real coup for the Borough. I'm sure our residents will give these sporting stars, as well as our local and international torch bearers, a warm and enthusiastic welcome."

Gebrselassie, from Ethiopia, won his double Olympic gold medals over 10,000 metres and was also four-times World Champion over the same distance. Hebburn-born Foster won his bronze medal in the 10,000 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics Games in Canada.

Gebrselassie will hand over the Olympic Torch to Foster at The Leas on the South Tyneside coastline, better known to race fans as the finishing line for The Great North Run, which Foster founded.
