The jury was also shown footage of Mr Dixon's wife Lynn and their young child being forced into a small "piano cage" by the robbers.
Later, after the child has wriggled free from the bars once the robbers have left, the hostages are shown freeing each other.
The £53m Securitas raid was the UK's largest cash robbery
Asked by prosecutor Sir John Nutting QC, how he felt during the raid, Mr Dixon said: "I was terrified."
He said he was "very very concerned" because he did not know how his family were until the end of the ordeal.
"I didn't know what was going to happen to them," Mr Dixon said. "I didn't know what was going to happen to me or to my staff.
"I did exactly what I was told, fearing the worst, but hoping that we would all get out of it in one piece."
