Emergency services are searching the River Usk in the centre of Brecon for a man who has gone missing. Emergency services are searching for a 54-year-old man who is believed to have fallen into the River Usk in Brecon.
Dyfed-Powys Police, fire crews and mountain rescue teams joined the search after the alarm was raised just after 06:00 BST on Friday. The local man is said to have have plunged into the fast-flowing water near Llanfaes Bridge in the early hours on Friday morning.
Mid and West Wales Fire Service said more than 20 people, including the crew of search and rescue boat from Swansea, were taking part. Police, fire crews and mountain rescue teams joined the search after the alarm was raised just after 06:00 BST.
Police said they were looking for a man who was possibly in the river. Thirty firefighters, including search and rescue boat crews from Hay-on-Wye and Swansea, are taking part.
"At the moment the emergency services are co-ordinating an urgent search of the river and surrounding areas," said Insp Eric Evans of Dyfed-Powys Police.
"As you can imagine with the rainfall we've seen recently, the river is moving very quickly, so we are concerned for his safety if he has gone in to the water."
Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the search was focused near Llanfaes Bridge in the centre of the town.
Crews from Brecon, Crickhowell and Hay fire stations are also involved.
