Version 0 of 1.

A dozen airmen serving in Britain with the United States armed forces are under investigation in connection with the alleged supply of controlled drugs.

Eleven of the airmen belong to the 48th Maintenance Group or 48th Medical Group at RAF Lakenheath, it is revealed.

They are suspected of supplying cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana, a base spokeswoman has confirmed.

The 12th man serves at RAF Mildenhall where the American air force's 100th Air Refuelling Wing is based.

The spokeswoman said inquiries had been under way for several months and two civilians have also been questioned but no arrests or charges have yet been made.

A quantity of suspect material has been seized and a laboratory has been asked to identify the substance.

A report about the case was made last month to the 48th Judge Advocate General's Office and the two base commanders were informed of the investigator's suspicions.
