Funded by Arts Council England and commissioned by City Central B.I.D the bandstand is part of the city's Summer of Love, a phrase which makes relics such as myself who were teens in the 1960s feel all warm inside. It will be operated by Open Culture, with a professional sound engineer to support four performances a day from noon to 5pm. Performances will be listed on the City Central B.I.D. and Open Culture websites. | Funded by Arts Council England and commissioned by City Central B.I.D the bandstand is part of the city's Summer of Love, a phrase which makes relics such as myself who were teens in the 1960s feel all warm inside. Everyone, including us, is catering for the Olympics but we thought we needed an oasis for people who won't be interested> What better than a bandstand that can act in its own way as a platform for a multitude of talents. To host Liverpool city centre's first-ever bandstand is also an honour. Thanks to the support of Open Culture and Arts Council England we can give people a chance to sit back, unwind and enjoy some of the finest talents this city and wider region has to offer. Of course, in between performances people can also nip round the corner to watch Usain Bolt and company if they are tempted. | Everyone, including us, is catering for the Olympics but we thought we needed an oasis for people who won't be interested> What better than a bandstand that can act in its own way as a platform for a multitude of talents.
