Two people were critically injured in a crash between a car and coach that closed the A11 in Suffolk. Eight people were taken to hospital and 20 were described as "walking wounded" after a collision between a car and a coach on the A11 in Suffolk.
The collision happened in Elveden at 13:25 BST. The road was closed between the A1101 and B1106 junctions. The crash happened near Elveden at 13:25 BST and led to the road being shut between the A1101 and B1106.
The 30 people on the coach were not injured, a police spokesman said. About 30 teenagers were on the coach, police said. Two people in a Mercedes car suffered critical injuries.
Fire crews were attempting to free two people trapped in a black Mercedes car and an air ambulance has been at the scene. Police said two other people in the vehicle were not seriously injured. Police are treating the crash as a "major incident".
Diversions are in operation. An ambulance spokeswoman said: "Eight patients have been taken to Addenbrooke's, West Suffolk, and Norfolk and Norwich hospitals and 20 patients were walking wounded."
Diversions have been put in place while the emergency services remain at the site.
Police said five people injured on the coach had been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The occupants of the Mercedes were taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
