The court had been told that Cordner had poured garden machinery fuel on his 33-year-old wife after they both had had a lot of alcohol to drink and she had either fallen asleep or was unconscious. | |
He tormented her with a cigarette lighter telling her he would set her on fire if she did not wake up. | |

In a victim impact statement, Mrs Cordner's father, Ray Ferguson, said her death had caused "absolute devastation" to the family. | |
