In a victim impact statement, 33-year-old Mrs Cordner's father, Ray Ferguson, said her death had caused "absolute devastation" to the family. The court had been told that Cordner had poured garden machinery fuel on his 33-year-old wife after they both had had a lot of alcohol to drink and she had either fallen asleep or was unconscious.
He tormented her with a cigarette lighter telling her he would set her on fire if she did not wake up.
When it was ignited close to her, she went up in flames, the court was told.
Cordner then left the house without calling the emergency services.
His wife died in hospital a few days later.
'Truly dreadful thing'
