Police are trying to trace two missing teenage girls who have not been seen for five days.

Officers believe that Zoe Francis, 13, from Clydebank, and 14-year-old Gillian Higgins, of Drumchapel in Glasgow, may have gone off together.

The girls, who both attend St Columba's High School in Clydebank, have not been seen since Tuesday.

Strathclyde Police said the girls' families were becoming increasingly concerned for their safety.

Zoe is white, 5ft 4in tall, with long brown hair, brown eyes and a fair complexion. She was wearing a white shirt and black jumper, black trousers and black shoes.

Gillian is white, 5ft 4in tall, of slim-medium build, with light brown hair, blue eyes and a fresh complexion. She was wearing a black body warmer, black trousers, black shoes and a white shirt.

Gillian was at school on Tuesday, but Zoe failed to attend.

Police have urged anyone with information about the girls to come forward.
