Jamie Smyth, 21, who also lives in the neighbourhood, said relatives of the deceased had begun gathering at the house late last night after hearing the news.
She said: "I saw the children's dad pacing up and down the road outside the house.
"Other relatives would arrive and you could hear them cry out and burst into tears when they were told exactly what happened.
"It was heartbreaking to hear.
"They were a lovely family; very friendly."
