The Forestry Commission is planning to put boulders and ditches at some Dartmoor entrances to prevent raves.

It comes after an event at Bellever Forest in June attracted about 1,500 people in 500 vehicles and cost thousands of pounds to clear up.

The commission has also taken advice from other areas such as the Forest of Dean which have tackled illegal raves.

Police are also hoping the public can help them to prevent further raves by spotting sites being set up.

Ben Phillips, of the Forestry Commission, said: "We are looking at replacing wooden gates with metal ones.

"It is not beyond ravers to bring an angle grinder but we can improve the strength of gates.

"We can also build earth bunds around gateways and other things that don't cost a lot of money but can prevent these things happening again."
