Loch Gairloch capsize: Children rescued and man missing | |

Four children have been rescued and a search is continuing for a man after their canoe capsized in a sea loch in the Highlands. | |
Six people were in the boat when it overturned in Loch Gairloch. One man managed to swim to shore and alert Stornoway Coastguard at about 16:15. | |
The children were flown by helicopter to hospital. Their condition is not known. | |
The other man onboard the canoe was not found and the search is ongoing. | |
A coastguard helicopter and lifeboats from Portree, Gairloch and Loch Ewe were involved in pulling the children from the water. | |
Local boats and on shore coastguard teams were assisting with the rescue efforts. A local ambulance crew and the air ambulance from Inverness were also at the scene. | |
A coastguard spokesman said: "Four children have been recovered from the water and transferred to hospital. | |
"Search teams continue to look for the man who is still missing." |
