Heavy rains hit parts of Scotland Efforts to clear blocked rail line after flooding hits Scotland

Severe downpours and stormy conditions have been sweeping across parts of Scotland. Engineering works are taking place through the night to clear landslip damage to the rail line between Stirling and Dunblane.
Some streets in Edinburgh were affected by flooding, hail storms were seen in the west and flood waters swept debris across a stretch of the A7. It follows a day of severe downpours and stormy conditions across parts of Scotland.
A landslip which closed the rail line between Stirling and Dunblane is not expected to be cleared until Thursday. Some areas were hit by flash floods and rail and road travel was disrupted.

Network Rail said lines between Stirling and Dunblane had been blocked by the landslip and trains were currently unable to run. The landslip near Bridge of Allan closed the rail line between Stirling and Dunblane on Wednesday evening.
