Inquest over Pensham couple's fall deaths in Morocco Mathilde and Roger Lamb inquests: Couple fell to deaths in Morocco
(about 4 hours later)
An inquest into the deaths of a couple killed in separate falls while on holiday in Morocco will take place later. A couple from Worcestershire fell to their deaths in separate incidents a few days apart while on holiday in Morocco, an inquest has heard.
Roger and Mathilde Lamb, of Pensham, in Worcestershire, died while they were in the resort of Essaouira, last summer. It is thought Mathilde Lamb, 43, fell 60ft (18m) from her apartment as she remonstrated with revellers celebrating Ramadan in the street below.
It is thought Mrs Lamb fell from a window of an apartment while days later Mr Lamb fell downstairs at a different building. Her husband Roger, 46, is believed to have killed himself by jumping from a balcony on 22 August last year.
The joint inquest will be held at Trowbridge civic hall in Wiltshire. The couple's deaths in the resort of Essaouira left their children orphans.
Mrs Lamb, 43, and her 47-year-old husband both died from their injuries in hospital. The inquest, at Trowbridge civic hall in Wiltshire, heard the couple, from Pensham, both died from their injuries in hospital.
Following the deaths last August, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was investigating the exact circumstances of what happened. The hearing was told that shortly after his wife's death on 17 August, Mr Lamb had been stopped by locals from wading into the sea carrying a backpack full of rocks.
Mrs Lamb, who was known as Tilly, had relatives in Wiltshire.
