Version 0 of 1.

Questions remain over the death of a Libyan journalist despite three convictions, the lobby group Reporters Without Borders (RWB) has said.

Three people have been sentenced to death for the murder in 2005 of Daif Ghazal, a government critic.

But RWB's Hajar Smaouni said the trial had not established a motive.

Ms Smaouni said the investigation of had been so secretive that questions remained over the possible involvement of government officials in the killing.

Mr Ghazal had worked for a state-owned newspaper until a year before his death.

He then started working for the London-based online newspaper Libya al-Youm, where he wrote about alleged government corruption and state control of the media.

He was reportedly snatched from his car. His body was later found with a gunshot wound in the head and signs of torture.

Libya's government has denied allegations that state security agents were involved.

"There are a lot of unanswered questions," Ms Smaouni told the BBC's Network Africa programme.
