Girl in intensive care after hit and run incident in Barry Girl, 6, hurt in Barry: Driver may not know about collision

A six-year-old girl suffered a serious head injury in a hit and run incident with a car in the Vale of Glamorgan. Police say a driver may not know he was involved in a collision with a six-year-old girl, who is in hospital with a head injury.
The girl was flown to hospital and is in intensive care. The girl suffered a serious head injury in the collision in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan, and South Wales Police want to speak to the driver of a grey or silver car.
Police said the collision - involving a grey or silver coloured estate-type vehicle - happened at Winston Road in Barry at 16:55 BST on Thursday. Officers say they are no longer working on the basis of a hit and run.
The car was said to be travelling at a "relatively slow speed" when it came into contact with the child. The driver did not stop and left the scene. The girl was flown to hospital and her condition is not life threatening.
"Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the vicinity of Winston Road, Barry at or around 4.55pm," said a South Wales Police spokesman. Police want to speak to the driver of a grey or silver car, and believe the motorist may not know she was knocked over.
"Police would also like to speak to the drivers of any grey or silver coloured estate vehicles which may have been in the area at the relevant time. The collision happened at Winston Road in Barry at 16:55 BST on Thursday.

"Police believe that the driver may not be aware that the child had been knocked over but need to speak to that driver urgently," said a force spokesman.
Police also want to talk to the driver of a passing black car travelling in the opposite direction.
Earlier, police said they wanted to speak to the drivers of any grey or silver vehicles which may have been in the area at the time.
