Brittany Ferries confirmed that the strike was over but no details of the deal have yet emerged. Tens of thousands of passengers have been affected by the strike which hit the firm's ferries from Portsmouth and Plymouth to France and Spain.

A spokesman said a majority of crew members voted on Sunday to accept a deal which included "a number of concessions" by the firm which has been making losses for the last three years
"The majority of our plan has been accepted," he said.
"It puts us on a more stable footing for the future."
