Tobin was ordered to spend at least 21 years in jail when sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh. During Tobin's trial for Ms Kluk's murder, proceedings were halted for two days in April after he became ill and underwent tests at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
After the trial it emerged he had been jailed for 14 years in 1994 for a sex attack on two teenage girls in the Portsmouth area. The six-week trial heard how he had befriended the student while she worked as a cleaner at St Patrick's Church in the Anderston area of the city.
Tobin, who used the name Patrick McLaughlin, was employed as an odd job man at the church.
'Evil man'
Angelika's bound, gagged and badly beaten body was discovered on 29 September hidden under the floorboards of the church.
When forensics linked Tobin to the young woman, he denied raping and murdering her and claimed that she had consented to having sex with him.
The jury of eight women and seven men took just under four hours to convict him.
At the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Menzies described him as " an evil man" and said that he should serve a minimum of 21 years.
