The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said despite the extensive operation, no sign of anyone had been found and the search had been called off late on Saturday night. A spokesman said: If we get any new information that prompts us to an area then we will recommence a search."
Solent Coastguard said a shoreline search had begun again on Sunday morning for the skipper, who has not been identified. Coastguard helicopters from Portland and RNLI Lifeboats from Lee On Solent, Yarmouth and Mudeford have been involved in the operation since Saturday.
