An elderly man has died after being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire. A 79-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in South Lanarkshire.
Police were called to the incident on Main Street in Uddingston at about 17:30 on Monday. The man was struck by a black Ford Kuga as he crossed Main Street, Uddingston, near to Gardenside Avenue, at about 17:25 on Monday.
He was taken to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie where he died from his injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Monklands Hospital in Airdrie where he died. The car driver was not injured.
A spokesman for Strathclyde Police said the road was closed for five hours while accident investigations were carried out. The road was closed for five hours following the incident. Strathclyde Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
