Three inches of snow falls in the west of England Flood warnings after snowfall in west of England
(about 4 hours later)
Three inches of snow has fallen across parts of Somerset, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and North Dorset. Flood warnings have been issued after three inches of snow fell across parts of the West Country and southern England, causing disruption to transport.
Areas including Bath, Frome and Midsomer Norton and Radstock in the Mendips have been affected, with up to 6in (15cm) reported in places. The snowfall happened early on Sunday and affected parts of Wiltshire, Somerset, North Dorset and Devon.
Wiltshire Police said several vehicles had become stuck in snow near Bradford-on-Avon. Flood warnings were put in place as the snow began to melt away, with one bridge in danger of collapse.
A BBC weather forecaster said brighter weather was expected on Monday.

Kelvin Packer from Banes said two teams had been sent out to clear and grit the roads. Steph Clegg from Bruton in Somerset, who was trying to drive to Cardiff on Sunday morning, said: "We set off and there was sleet. When we got to Shepton Mallet it got much heavier.
"Unfortunately the snow came down immediately off the back of a band of rain and with everything being so wet it's just sat on the roads as slush. "Vans were having to pull over and people were turning around and skidding everywhere. It was like a completely different world."
"When it's raining heavily we can't go out gritting because the salt just washes straight off the road and it normally takes us about three hours to salt 260 miles of road." Trains affected
First Great Western said trains between Swindon and Gloucester had been replaced by buses because of flooding near Kemble. Several roads in the region have been affected by flooding.
Several bus services have been cancelled in Bath and Wells because of the snow, a spokesman for First Bristol said. The A357 through Templecombe in Somerset has been closed in both directions because of concerns a bridge wall could collapse, Avon and Somerset Police said.
Flakes of snow were also reported to have fallen in parts of Gloucestershire. Areas of North Dorset including Sherborne were also affected. Roads have also been flooded in Malmesbury and Tidworth in Wiltshire.
There have also been light falls of snow on the hilltops of Dartmoor above Okehampton in Devon. The Environment Agency issued flood warnings for several rivers in the area, including the Tetbury Avon at Malmesbury and the River Chew near Keynsham.
Earlier, trains between Swindon and Gloucester had to be replaced by buses because of flooding near Kemble, but First Great Western said the line had now been reopened.
