The service said 14 homes were affected in Pontarddulais, along with properties in Mumbles and Swansea city centre. The fire service said around 50 homes in Pontarddulais, Mumbles and Swansea city centre were affected.

Mr Phillips said lightening also struck a property in Margam, Port Talbot. One person has been taken to hospital suffering from the affects of shock. In Margam, near Port Talbot, a woman in her 20s was taken to Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend, suffering from shock after lightning struck her home at about 0130 BST.
