Bowsers are beginning to be withdrawn from the streets of Gloucestershire.

The tanks of water have been stationed in all the areas which lost their mains supply after the Mythe treatment works near Tewkesbury were flooded.

Severn Trent Water is still advising residents in the 140,000 homes affected that water from domestic taps and bowsers can be drunk after boiling.

A spokesman said it was hoped that normal drinking water will be returned to homes next week.

In Cheltenham on Sunday morning, all but a handful of households had their supplies restored after a mains pipe burst on Saturday, leaving 10,000 homes without water.
