Police in Perth charge three men over Bute Drive death Three men appear in court charged with murder after Perth death

Tayside Police have said three men have been charged in connection with the suspicious death of another man in Perth. Three men have appeared in court charged with murdering a 27-year-old man in Perth by attacking him with a television and golf club.
The dead man was found with serious injuries near Bute Drive at 04:30 on Saturday. He died a short time later at Perth Royal Infirmary. Taylor Gordon, Drew Paterson and Mark Boyd are accused of repeatedly stamping on William Reid's head and body before abandoning him in freezing temperatures on Bute Drive between 7 and 8 December.
The three men are aged 19, 24 and 28 and will appear before Perth Sheriff Court on Monday At Perth Sheriff Court, all three denied the charges.
A post mortem examination was also due to be carried out. Sheriff Fiona Tait continued the case for further examination.
Police said the details of the dead man, believed to be in his 20s, would not be released until a formal identification had taken place. The three are alleged to have acted together to murder Mr Reid, from Perth, by attacking him in a flat at Inchaffray Street in the city between 7 and 8 December.
Freezing temperatures
It is alleged that the attacked continued to the area of multi-pitches on Bute Drive and that they struck Mr Reid with a golf club and with a TV set.
The three men are alleged to have repeatedly stamped on his head and body to his severe injury before placing him in a car and depositing him at the multi-pitches in freezing temperatures.
Mr Paterson, 24, of no fixed abode, Mr Gordon, 19, and Mr Boyd, 28, both from Perth, were remanded in custody.
Extra police officers had to be called to court after a large number of Mr Reid's family and friends turned up before the case was called.
Mr Reid was found close to his home during the early hours of Saturday morning with serious injuries and died in Perth Royal Infirmary a short time later.
A team of Tayside Police officers carried out door-to-door inquiries in the North Muirton area over the weekend and the scene was cordoned off.
