HMP Leyhill absconder Sean Cawthray sought by police

Police have asked the public for help in the hunt for a man who has disappeared from a prison in South Gloucestershire.

Sean Cawthray, 41, was last seen on Sunday and is thought to have left HMP Leyhill some time before 20:30 GMT.

He is white, 5ft 9ins (1.75m) to 5ft 11ins (1.8m) tall, of medium build with short brown hair and blue eyes.

Officers are urging people not to approach him but to contact police immediately on 999.

He was last seen wearing a pair of silver training shoes, cream combat trousers and a light blue top.

He may have been wearing either a worker's fluorescent jacket, grey jacket with orange patches or black jacket with a blue patch.

Police said he has links to Leicestershire and Leeds.

"We are committed to locating, returning to custody and charging anyone unlawfully at large," said Det Insp Dominic Graham, of South Gloucestershire CID.

"Officers work closely with HMP Leyhill and other police forces to track down absconders promptly and keep any potential risk to the public to a minimum."
