New Year babies make their arrival in Scotland

The first birth of 2013 in the NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde area took place at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley. Riley Lafferty, from Greenock, arrived at four minutes past midnight weighing 5lb 15oz. The first baby to make her entrance in Edinburgh and the Lothians was Islay Gray, from Leith. She was born at 00:22, weighing 5lbs 9oz. Lara Milne, from Inverurie, was the first baby born in the Grampian area at 00:28. Two boys were born at the Ayrshire Maternity Unit in Kilmarnock in the early hours of 2013. At 01:05, Nicola Gouldstone from Galston gave birth to baby Leon - and 22 minutes later, Kathleen Dickie from Maybole gave birth to a baby boy. Fife's first arrival of 2013 was baby Rowley, who was born at 01:27 at the Victoria Hospital. Debbie Gibson, from Slamannan, had a baby boy at Forth Valley Hospital at 04:17. And Torin Macleod was the first baby born at Inverness' Raigmore Hospital, at 04:36. |
