The police are "currently dealing with disorder" in parts of east Belfast. Eight officers have been injured after police came under attack from a crowd throwing petrol bombs and other missiles in east Belfast.
The disturbances are concentrated on Albertbridge Road, Castlereagh Street and Mountpottinger Street. The disorder broke out during a loyalist street protest against restrictions to the flying of the union flag at Belfast City Hall.
One officer needed hospital treatment, but he has since been released. A car has also been set on fire in Templemore Avenue.
The police have arrested two people.
A PSNI spokeswoman said the crowd was about 100 strong.
The disturbances are still ongoing and are concentrated on Albertbridge Road, Castlereagh Street and Mountpottinger Street.
