A bus carrying Egyptian pilgrims has crashed in eastern Egypt, killing nine people and injuring more than 40.

The bus was taking pilgrims to Saudi Arabia through the eastern Egyptian port of Suez when it overturned at the town of Zaafarana.

In a separate accident on the same road, a British tourist was killed and two other people were injured when a bus carrying foreign tourists crashed.

Many thousands of people die in accidents on Egyptian roads every year.

Last month, a bus carrying tourists overturned in the Sinai Peninsula, killing at least 11 Israeli Arabs and an Egyptian.
