South Africa: 400 Troops Headed to Central African Republic
Version 0 of 1. President Jacob Zuma’s office said Sunday that South Africa would send 400 soldiers to the Central African Republic to help it deal with a threat from rebel groups. Cameroon, Chad, Gabon and the Republic of Congo also have sent troops to help stabilize the country. A dozen towns have come under rebel control since a rebel alliance calling itself Seleka began its offensive on Dec. 10. Negotiations between the rebels and the government are set to begin in Gabon on Tuesday. |
