The search is on for eight schools in Northern Ireland to take part in a music and multi-media skills initiative which could lead to a record deal.

The Blastbeat programme offers teenagers the chance to win cash and secure a music deal.

The programme is open to secondary school students aged between 14 and 18.

In 2003-2004, Blastbeat was piloted in the Republic of Ireland and involved teams of teenagers from 18 secondary schools.

Then in 2005-2006 a cross-border programme was run, involving 18 teams from the Republic and six from Northern Ireland.
