http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-21228610 Version 0 of 1. Police have said they do not expect any charges against customers who detained a robber at a Plymouth bookmaker's before he died. Alan Levers, 50, entered Ladbrokes in Crownhill Road on Friday wearing a gas mask and holding a suspected imitation pistol. Mr Levers, from the Honicknowle area of Plymouth, was pinned down by four customers before police arrived. Officers found him unconscious and he died minutes later. A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: "We do not anticipate, at this time, any criminal proceedings being taken against those who detained the deceased. "These key witnesses acted bravely under difficult circumstances and showed a disregard for their safety." A spokesman for Ladbrokes said the company was assisting police. The case has also been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission by Devon and Cornwall Police. |
