A number of families have been forced to leave their homes in a security alert in north Belfast. Army bomb experts have recovered a pipe bomb after a security alert in north Belfast.
Houses have been evacuated close to a community centre on the Shore Road at Whitewell. The Shore Road has now been reopened. The device has been taken away for further examination.
Army bomb experts and police are at the scene. The road is closed between the Whitewell Road and the M2 offslip. A number of people had to leave their homes during the alert close to a community centre at Whitewell.
There are no further details. The alarm was raised at tea-time on Thursday. Residents have now been allowed to return to their homes.
